Tom Childers is a a consulting enterprise architect at RedSeal Solutions
Mr. Childers has been developing complex, high-performance software,
leading large projects, and resolving performance and capacity issues
for more than 30 years. He is proficient with C++, Forté and Java EE
technologies, and has deep expertise on a wide variety of platforms,
from IBM mainframes to Unix, Windows and Macintosh.
At Sun Microsystems, Mr. Childers was a member and chair of the Architecture Review Committee for Glassfish, Open ESB, NetBeans, Java CAPS, and Identity/Directory products. Prior to Sun, he worked for Oracle as a benchmarking and performance specialist, traveling to customer sites, writing magazine articles, and speaking at International Oracle User Group meetings. At Sybase, he developed
middleware for client programming and two-phase commit services, and
at Forté Software, he ported the company's products to IBM zOS and
made significant performance and reliability improvements to the
Conductor workflow engine. He has also worked as an independent
consultant for various commercial clients, including IBM Santa Teresa Labs.
Mr Childers holds a US patent for his work at E-Net, Inc. on the DB2
Remote Recovery Data Facility for IBM.

Mr. Childers studied Electrical Engineering and Geophysics at the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
